Is it from both breasts or just the right one? Check again, just to be sure. If both, then it's most likely just a hormonal thing and will pass. No worries.
If it's just one, then this could be a sign of many different things, including breast cancer, a clogged milk duct, infected gland in breast, and the list goes on. If this is the only sign, maybe just watch it and see if it goes away. If she is experiencing pain, swelling, tenderness, redness anywhere on or around breast or armpit, red streaks, fever, or if the liquid changes or becomes odorous, then she certainly needs to be seen by a medical professional.
Even if it's the only sign, she may feel better just being seen by a physician.
Good luck! And good job for caring about your friend. =)

Yeah - its a good sign. I started that early, and my baby hasn't had any issues with feeding, and her weight gain as been excellent - she didn't actually lose any weight either to begin with, just kept putting it on. You don't make any milk until after your baby is born. What you are leaking is called colostrum - which is also known as your babies first milk, and don't squeeze your nipples, it will come out all by itself if it wants too. You might need to think about getting breast pads, if you start leaking more.

At yearly exams the doctor always asks if there has been any discharge from the nipple and squeezes it to make sure nothing comes out. There are plenty of different types of discharge, and some are okay while others indicate a problem. The website I listed gives you info on which ones need a doctor's attention.

are you sure she is not pregnant? assuming thats a yes shes not, it is possible to produce milk when sucked over a period of time, there are some women who live in enclosed female only spaces that when one becomes a new mum others can produce milk to support the new mother in breast feeding. however if its excessive check it with the doc

this is a sign of breast cancer. the breast should only produce milk or fluid when prolactin is being produced (this is only produced when you are pregnant and can DEFINATLY not happen when the breast is sucked to much) if it was a problem with the hormone levels where prolactin was being produced without pregnancy it would come from both nipples. please please get checked out and good luck to your friend.

I know exactly how your friend is feeling. My aunt and I have this problem too. When i told my gp about it, she did a blood test to check my Prolactin levels and the results came back high. It could be the problem with your friend as well. It can be treated.

I believe that the only time a breast should emit fluid is when you are pregnant. Otherwise it is a possible indication of breast cancer. Please tell your friend to go and see a doctor asap

Get your friend to see her doc. I had same and had scan, found cancer, treated and I am OK. Normally not a sign of cancer, but worth having checked out.

She needs to see the doc sooner rather than later, but it could be nothing. Better to make sure tho.
