Usually we split the bill but every once in a while he offers to pay the whole thing and it's usually at a moderately pricey restaurant. The other couple never offers to pay the whole bill. Only once they offered but that was to return a favor we did for them. I told my husband we should always split since it's not equal when he offers and they don't. He's done this about three or four times, how do I make him stop?

Additional info: If we go to the movies with them and buy popcorn of course we share it with them, but if they buy the popcorn they don't share with us. I know this is small, but I think it's weird and it bothers me. (No one's short on cash we all make roughly the same.)

Stop asking them to go out for food. Get another cpl to go out with or something. When your hubby says "hey lets invite so and so out for dinner", just mention a different cpl, or just say, hey, i'd really like it if we went by ourselves.....sooner or later, either your hubby will get the hint, or the cpl that is taking advantage of you two. Good luck.

Unless it leaves you short on money, what's the big deal? You should be happy he is such a loving, generous guy. Maybe they couldn't afford it. Even better, if it bothers you that much, cook them dinner at home. People are generous because you care about them, not because you expect reciprocation. In my opinion, shame on you for not being more proud of having such a great guy!

If these are your friends and your husband wants to do something nice for them, what is the problem? Does being nice always have to have a payback?

These so-called friends of yours are taking advantage of your hubby. Certain folk think kind-hearted people are weak.
Put your foot down.
