A compound called carbon disulfide can make this happen. The Flame temperature of CS2 is so low that burns don't occur. Wet hands with a little CS2 - wet, not dripping. Hold near open flame. The CS2 will burn. Keep rubbing hands together so heat does not accumulate in one spot. Makes a spectacular effect.

Be careful in trying this. Keep any other flammables away. Have a bucket of water to douse hands in if they get too hot. Have a fire extinguisher on hand.

The only way I have ever heard of was from an old circus act, where the person used some kind of liquid that burned off of the surface of their hands without burning the hand. I would definately say DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME, lol.

It is quite easy and not particularly dangerous. Just cup one of your hands with your fingers pressed tightly together. Spay hairspray until there is a small puddle in the palm of you hand. Ignite. Be careful to keep your fingers pressed together, if the burning hairspray runs through your fingers and gets on the thin skin on the back of your hand it can hurt. You can extinguish the flame by clapping your hands together or on your jeans (don't wear synthetic clothing while doing this).

we used to muck about doing this kinda thing at school back in the day... we thought we were well cool!! our method was just to spray deodorant on your hand and light that- you have to be quick to light it or it evaporates, and not all brands seem to work too well. i never got burned, though i did see somebody melt their shirt sleeve onto their arm- the polyester melted right into their skin. ugghhh!
