Statement 2, because the creature being consumed doesn't supply energy to consume itself, so energy does NOT travel in both directions in a food chain.

I'm not sure which is incorrect but it seems to me that the first one is. If each level of the food chain depends on the level below it, what does the bottom level of the food chain depend on? Statement 2 seems true since the energy it takes for a lion to catch and eat a gazelle would eventually result in the lions droppings to fertilize the grass which the gazelles eat. Statement 3 I believe is true because jackals often steal food from lions so both need the same food source and the jackals would also eat a lions cubs if they could get to them. The same would be true of the lions eating the jackals cubs if they could get to them. So the food chain for them would be interrelated. Statement 4 I'm sure is true. The answers I gave for statements 2 and 3 support statement 4. And the 5th statement is also true. We as human eat a great variety of foods. As does a vulture or a monkey or a rat. Hope this helped.

Answer: 2, the energy flows one way only, in a single path.

"A food chain describes a single pathway that energy and nutrients may follow in an ecosystem"

5 is least correct. It did not specify human consumers. Almost everything alive has a very limited diet.
