Take an over the counter pain reliever, following the dosage instructions. I like Aleve, but use your preference. Personally I've never found Midol or other "female" painkillers to be any good.
If you aren't totally incapacitated, try to get some exercise. It's not advice you want to hear, but it really does help.
The big help if you are in serious hurt is *heat*. If you have a hot pad or a hot water bottle, get it going and lay it either on your lower back or your stomach. Don't do it so hot it burns, or anything.
For more severe, recurrent menstrual pain, your doctor can sometimes prescribe something more heavy-duty.

Tylenol and Motrin are good for dealing with menstrual pain. Hot water bottles too.
Eat small frequent meals, stay away from alcohol and spicy food until your period ends. If the pain is really bad, try tums, pepto-bismol or pepcid or zantac.*just one of them, not all at once* to reduce the acid levels. Pepto bismol would help with gassiness too.
You have a very common trouble. My gut always gets cranky with my period.

Natural remedies include eating pineapple or yams, using heating pads or hot water bottles, getting plenty of rest and exercise, avoiding caffeine and alcohol.
Then of course, any over the counter pain killer can help.
