The people who hold this standard are idiots. I've noticed a lot of men who are totally opposed to same sex marriage, yet they love watching women pretend to be lesbians for their entertainment. I guess it's "okay" when there is not love or commitment and the goal is to make "straight men" happy. It probably spawns from selfish men who see women as sexual objects and not actual people.

I see clearly what you are saying, and have noticed the same thing. Guys, being characteristically the more physical gender (and not to offend or stereotype, it all has to do w/hormones), are most likely pleased with watching this female sexuality. Especially if the girls are encouraged or forced to "make-out," then it is likely they aren't really lesbians. Because our culture is generally not accepting of homosexuality, gay men, who are actually partners and looked down at. However when someone asks girls to kiss and they do, since they aren't actually gay, it is not the same. I have also noticed that many criticize true lesbians so I do not think that it has to do so much with the gender, but more about whether or not the two involved are homosexuals.

The double standard is the way of the world. The people with power make the rules. Men have most of the power and it pleases them to see two women together. Straight men get angry and afraid when other men consider them a sex object.

Yeah I've noticed that too. It's a double standard because it's men. *laughs* Men like seeing other girls make out they think it's hot but 2 people of the same sex making out? Ewww sick. *rolls eyes* It's just a stupidity all around. Love everyone the way they are. I mean what's the deal? You see a woman slapping a man around and you look away but you see a man doing it to a woman and it's a horrible thing, there's double standards everywhere.

It is not unusual for many men to feel that their manhood is somehow being threatened when they see two gay men together. To them, it is a power/status thing. But when two women are going at it, it is double the sexual sensory overload- and that's why a lot of men are all for girl-on-girl, but hate guy-on-guy action.

I don't know. I think that people are just more used to two women together. Once people are exposed more to two men being together and get desensitized to it, I don't think it will be a big deal. What is sad is that so many girls sell out and make out with their friends just to get attention.

It is only in present society that this is the case. If you go back about 200 years, it was exactly the opposite - men could kiss openly in public, but women had to hide all acts like that. Go back over 1000 years and public orgies between men were common, and women were treated like slaves. Go back about 4000 years ago and public orgies between women were common and men were treated like slaves.
It is only the sign of the times.

It's sad isn't it. Gay men are looked at as the lowest form of men by many. I can't believe in this day and age that there are homophobes. Shocking. Straight men have to like lesbians, and hate gay men in order to be thought of as a man.
I AM ABSOLUTELY SICK OF STRAIGHT MEN SAYING THAT IT'S "OKAY TO BE GAY, BUT I'M SURE NOT!!!" Or "Gay guys are gross, but not lesbians!" Because they have a fear of being called gay.
A guy in my health class said (referring to the Sims 2) "Don't make gay guys have sex, just don't. NOT THAT I HAVE!" When I asked him why, all he said was "I dunno."
Disgusting.

Society views gay men as a sign of weakness. Because gay men........ wait let me rephrase that...... most gay men are feminine. Being feminine, is a sign of being a "girl". Straight men think that......... wait.... let me rephrase that.... Some straight men feel uncomfortable around feminine men so thats why they feel the need to judge gays. Yes.... I know.... its stupid but once people realize that gay people and straight people are just people.... the world would be a better place.

Because straight men think with their *****, those morons. There's nothing more annoying and rude than a dude asking me to kiss my date for his own gratification. I'm a freaking person too.
