Fat stores estrogen, so obese women have higher estrogen levels. This can cause a variety of problems including PCOS, which can hinder ovulation and decrease egg quality. It is a vicious cycle for many women, I think. They are overweight, told to lose weight it they want to get PG, then they get nervous and depressed about trying to lose weight and the infertility, so they end up gaining instead of losing. Maybe you could just try a few small tricks to get your estrogen down, like taking a fiber supplement called Glucomannan to keep blood sugar in check (I buy mine online). Also, walk 30 minutes every day. Exercise (even the mild type) is an excellent way to get rid of that extra estrogen. You might not have to seriously diet to get fit enough to conceive. Good luck!

When you are little overweight it can put your hormones out of balance. I am about 30 pounds overweight and have been trying to conceive for about 1 year. Even though you may THINK you are ovulating regularily you could even be a day or 2 off and that can screw up the whole thing. The best advice I can give you is TRY to lose some weight, any amount, even if it's only a pound or 2 a week. It adds up quick and trust me, you'll feel soooo much better. You may also want to try a fertility monitor or basal thermometer. That way you will know if you ovulate when you think you do. Good Luck and believe me I know exactly how you are feeling!

There was a realityTV series on a few months ago where a number of overweight people were all competing to see who could lose most weight and get fittest. There was a really nice woman on there who had been told that the reason why she couldn't conceive was beause she was overweight and this had put her hormones slightly out of balance. Think about it, if you are overweght, you are probably not as fit and energetic as you might be and if you have a baby, believe me, you'll need to be both! Lookng after a tiny baby is probably the most tiring thing you will ever do. When you consider this, this might be why Nature has it worked out and won't let you conceive if you are overweight. I have worked in a fertility clinic and it was surprising how many of our patients were a little larger than they would really like to be If you find it difficult to lose weight on your own, why not join a club. You'd be amazed how easy it is when you get support and advice on a regular basis, and you have the best reason in the world for succeeding. I wish you luck!

it may just take a bit longer. Assuming you are not obese and just the aver 20 or 30 lbs over weight.

it takes longer because your body is not at optimum levels for everything and being even a little over weight can make you ovulate irregularly so it's harder to know when you can get pregnant.

the average couple takes about 8 months to conceive if they are having sex the right time EVERY month.

Maybe your body just knows it can't handle carrying a baby and offering him/her a healthy home. Don't look for "anything else you can do besides lose weight", when it sounds like what you need to do is exactly that.

Your hormone's are out of whack when you are too heavy, and sometimes it can cause problems. If I were you, I'd try to lose a little weight, maybe 20 pounds and see if that helps.

I have never heard of this being true, it is hard to get pregnant if you are way underweight, but I have never heard of being overweight causing problems.
