Take it from someone that's a veteran nail stepper-onner...it's perfectly normal but it might be a little more sore as it heals for some reason.
I've been a carpenter since I was a kid and the first three or four years I stepped on lots of them.
Get a tetanis shot if you haven't had one this year and soaking in epsom salts will help with the soreness.

Bleeding helps wash the wound out, cleans it. But you should see a doctor whether it bled or not if you haven't had a tetnus shot for awhile. I can't remember how often (5-10 yrs.) you are supposed to have them but having the shot is much better than what might happen if you need one and don't get it.

That is the sincere answer. I don't understand what you are saying in your 2nd statement but if the initials are what I think they are, shame on you.

Yes, puncture wounds are some of the worst, as bleeding helps cleanse and seal the wound. Your problem is compounded by the fact that if the nail was rusty, and you have not had a tetanus shot recently, your problems will be compounded. Clean the wound and consult a physician.

If you can't see your reflection in the mirror, and your not bleeding when you step on a nail that means your thirsty. Its time to go feed. Try going to a football game, hiding under the bleachers, and biting people in the ankle.

Most of the time .A blood burst won't happen. It depends on the speed pressure or weight you applied to the nail...going to the nearest hospital you can gather more information....or see the movie Undertow...
