no the 21st is the shortest day of the year and the 21 of june is the longest day of the year.

December the 22nd is the longest day. The earth will take around around 24 hours and 30 seconds, to complete one rotation of its axis. If you are determining a day as a unit of measurement of time in relation to a 365 day year then the 22nd is the longest day.
If you are perceiving a day, as the hours from sunrise to sunset, then it becomes the shortest day of the year.
A day as a unit of measurement in time, and a day as sunrise to sunset are completely different definitions of the word day.

Thursday 21st December is the shortest day so I think tonight (21st/22nd) will be the longest night. The longest day is June 21st.

It`s definatly going to be the longest night of the year, it`s our works "DO" or bonding party with a lot of stuck up "suits" who just want to tell you how great they are and how well they run the company. Still it`s free and the christmas bonuses are paid out, so we`ll try and make the best of it.

No, it is actually (tonight) the 21st at 722pm EST. But yes, winter solstice is the longest night of the year. summer solstice is the longest day.
