Who knows? My son weighed 4lbs, 15.6 oz and was 17 inches long. He was born at 35 weeks and was healthy. He left the same day as i did.
I liked that he was small. When anyone hears that a baby weighed four or five pounds they think oh my there must be something wrong with the baby or that you done something to were it dosen't weigh 9 pounds. I would rather have a small baby than a baby that looks like it is three months old when it is born.
There was not a thing wrong with my son when he was born and he is now 5 years old and by looking at him you would never believe he was born weighing barely 5 pounds.
Good luck to you and Merry Christmas

I seriously hope that you are joking. Gorillas have babies that are that small, but in our species, called Human, it is not healthy for a baby to be that small. Through the wonder of dna humans aren't menat to grow the same way as gorillas. If a human is that small it is generally premature. I had a 9 pound baby and he is so healthy and tall and skinny. Birth weight has nothing to do with how you will end up as an adult. I was a 9 pound baby and as an adult I am 5'5'' and 110 pounds.

Because they are more developed! A baby under 5 pounds doesn't have all of it's organs and brain developed enough. 6-8lbs is an average weight for babies. My son weighed 9lbs 10oz... no complications during my pregnancy, nothing wrong I was perfectly healthy, just a VERY healthy baby! :) Both my husband and I weighed 6lbs at birth, so we were shocked, but the doctors said prenatal vitamins these days are way better than they used to be, maybe resulting in higher birth weight.

Humans develop a little differently from gorillas... but I feel where you are coming from, my daughter was born at 6 lb 10 oz and everybody was telling me how small she was and to me that wasn't too small. I was born at a little over 5 lbs so I've always thought that was the average weight but now medical standards are different

intrauterine advance restriction is defined as ultrasound weight less than the fifth percentile. there is not something you may do through Tuesday to regulate this. Ultrasounds actually have a 10% mistakes so that they could genuinely be off on the burden themes. also, the placenta being thick makes genuinely no experience. A 4 pound toddler at 34 weeks is likewise very standard so i'm not particular what they are talking about

First of all at 5 lbs a baby is consired premmature, the lungs are not fully develop with more likely to have health problems. All my kids were 7 lbs+ and very healthy babies. You can not compare animals with humans when it comes to size and weight.

My son was born at 36 weeks. He weighed 5lb 6oz and was 18 inches. He was born early because the DR. Induced me due to preeclampsia. Thankfully nothing was wrong with him...he kept his bloodsugar up, his temp, and could breath perfect. His Apgars were 8 and 9. When we left the hos. he was 5lb 2oz...but back to 5lb 4oz the next day. I'm happy he was a perfect tiny little baby. I only wish my next one is the same size with no complications! lol Even though he was so tiny...MY DR. still gave me an appesiotomy that needed 3 stictches...perhaps just to speed it up seeing i was so ill at the time. BP 166/111
My sister had my niece 2 weeks early and she only weighted 5lb 7oz...Imagine had she had her 4 weeks early she would have been below 5lbs. Thats scary....
It just depends on the woman, what they eat...and how healthy they are.

Birth weight of the baby depends on the size of its parents. if mom and dad are both under 5'5" and would be described as 'petite' and they have a 5 pounder....well, that seems normal. But if mom and dad are both over 5'9" and considered 'large' then i would say a 5 pound baby maybe didnt get all the nutrition it could have...or was born early. You cant compare us to gorillas. We are different animals entirely. Gorillas also nurse around the clock and never put their babies down.

Baby's (human baby's) that are born under 5 lbs are usually premature and have a hard time breathing on their own since their lungs are not fully developed. I don't know anything about Gorillas.

because the normal healthy birthweight has been proven to be above 5 lbs. and gorillas have different genetics than humans. so of course its not gonna be EXACTLY the same. my daughter was 8 lbs 10 ounces, she was very healthy, she wasnt fat either. (my whole family are on the bigger side, not fat, but tall and broader)
