80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

We enter the earth for a purpose. This purpose is specific to the individual and can range as widely as there are different people on the planet. Ultimately there are only two reasons; to learn and to teach. What we learn and what we teach is specific to each person. For example, a person born with a life threatening disease that will ensure they die while still a child is here to teach the family and friends something. It could be tolerance, love, compassion, humility, whatever. Again, it is specific to the individual. It all depends on what the survivor gets from the experience. For the survivors, they are there experiencing it to learn. The child is the teacher. This, of course, is just an example. It also answers the question that EVERYONE seems to ask, "Why would god let an innocent child die like that?"
This leads me to my next point. The person/soul within that child CHOSE to experience that. We not only have life after death we have life before birth. When we die here we return to the place that we came from before we got here. Depending on whether we learned or taught what we needed to in this life will depend on whether we decide (yes, it is a choice that we make) to come back in another. God gave us free will to do so.

It's funny how people turn this simple question into to some mystery. The answer is simple really, the meaning of life is what you choose it to be. As I have said already, in various other posts, there are two generic meanings of life for you to choose from. The first is of the self. Earn money and buy things until your content. Of course, most ppl on this path are rarely content, always seeing the greener grass on the other side.
The second path is that of the spirit. It is the path of servitude, of giving to those in need, the path of Jesus, and the path of relationships.
You can dwelve deeper into either one of these paths, but for now i think this will answer your question.

For me life is meaning less!Life has been a continuous struggle for existence. At the end of the day what we get...nothing but suffering,, and rejected by all...awaiting for the final moment..
Of late I tried to weave meaning to my life by making a difference in someones life.. thus i took to service of the disabled.
