Every year I was a wise man. I liked being a wise man as I had a really good costume and I was one of the tallest kids in the class too. Then in the final year on primary school my teacher did not like me so I did not get a part at all - not even a sheep or a patron in the inn.
Grrr! I am angry now thinking about that rotten teacher. She kept on calling me lazy because my spelling was bad - haha! The joke's on her I was spelling badly because I am dyslexic and she was too lazy to spot it! Actually that's not very funny...
Anyway I was never a "starring role" but was certainly a good supporting cast member and I got to represent a Zoroastrian Magus which is cool.

I was Mary several times and the others times I was the Angel and had to sing the solo "Away in a Manger". I miss those days. I was 18 that last time I played the Angel. Now I am 28 and can't wait till my daughters get a chance to take their place in the Nativity.

I went to a C of E school, we had our nativity plays in the church, it was beautiful, candle light everywhere, I was in the choir so got to dress as an angel every year which was great, walking up the aisle singing 'Oh come all ye faithful' leading the rest of the angels in my last year there and been so proud because my mom was crying with pride was great.

I had to be the narrator one year, never pretty or virginal enough to be Mary! Even at 10 they knew I was trouble! Usually got to be
3rd Shepherd, too intelligent and articulate to be a tree but not pretty enough to have a main role!! So got stuck at the back with a t towel on my napper!

I was Mary in the church nativity....
We had a real baby (as Jesus) that year (One of the regular church go-ers, new born...The Vicar supervised the whole holding business!) and I swear to you now, that the baby opened it's eyes on the verse of 'the cattle are lowing, the baby awakes' during the song 'Away in a manger'
I thought It was a miracle!!
I was 10!

I got to be Mary at the church nativity when I was about 5. I think I got the part because I had long brown hair. I don't remember much of it, but I got to hold a baby doll (Jesus).

No, the starring role was always played by a doll.

I played Mary in Play School, but I cried all the way through because I wanted to be a sheep!!! They had better costumes than Mary.
