If the CD player does not have a phono input - which it probably doesn't - you will need an amp because turntables output at a very low level. The good news is you can very easily buy a cheap phono preamp unit (basically a box with a switch that boosts the output level) and they're easy to find online. Just google 'phono preamp'.

NB: I'm assuming your CD player is a self contained unit. If it is a component CD player unit you need an amp for the whole system - buy one with a phono input!

Everything you have bought - turntable, cd player, and speakers, will need to be connected to either an integrated amplifier, receiver (which includes the pre-amp for the turntable, and the power amp for everything else), or a pre amp and seperate power amp.

Of course, there is the possibility that you haven't described your purchases accurately, in which case nobody can accurately tell you what you need. Do you have a picture of the equipment available?

Yes. All seperate components will connect to the one amplifier.

So your CD player and speakers will also connect to your amp. It is the heart of your system.

Ask your supplier about how many components you can connect up and even how many sets of speakers you can hook up.

Yes you will Also if your amplifier doesn't have a phono slot with a ground you will need a passive amplifier.
