I'm not religious, but I reckon lying is about the most pointless and karmically unsound thing you can do in any circumstance. It is ALWAYS counterproductive, and will ALWAYS work against you, without exception.
The only way to be happy is to try to never lie about anything, ever.
That said, good luck with the job.

What was it for-- pizza delivery? That would be a problem.
Yes, dear, I don't know how you got raised this far and have to ask if lying is right or not.
For the record, lying-especially on applications-in writing- is very dumb- and not right- as far as most intelligent people figure it.
You might make a case for lying to save someone's feelings-like telling your sister her butt looks great in those jeans or call in sick for work when you really have tickets to a ballgame, but lying to give yourself credentials or equipment that you don't have is awful!
Why not apply to be a doctor with a 2-legged dog or a mermaid with a rocket ship? At LEAST, that is imaginative, and funny-not just outright false advertising.
My best suggestion? BECOME the person you dream about being- and start by knowing and telling the TRUTH-NO matter what!
(Sometimes the truth is "I don't want to say.")

If you applied for a job giving false details, and your employer was deceived or likely to be deceived into giving you the job, then you have committed the offence of obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception, contrary to Section 16 of the Theft Act 1968.

It's never right to lie, even though we all do it at sometime or another. It's not up to me or anyone else who may have answered this question for you. It's between you and your conscience.
As one who can never say I've never lied, I certainly have no right to judge you.

You're gonna go to jail!
Well, okay, maybe not - but if the job requires you to have a car to do the job, you better get a car REAL SOON...

If you get the job tell them that you had to get rid of the car as you`ve just been banned for ten years for drunk driving.

It would depend on why you lied, and how important it is. If it's for, say, a delivery driver, then you're going to get found out!

that is wrong and you could be dismissed for doing that . you would be tagged as a dishonest employee attempting to get allowances which you do not qualify for like fuel and car maintenance allowances
