In certain rooms where patients require constant monitoring for their own safety, yes. In a general hospital room, not there are not. This would be a HIPPAA violation and a basic invasion of privacy.
That being said there are some hospitals that have started the "tele-physician" programs, in which a physician at a remote location can monitor a patient, but the camera cannot be turned on without the patients knowledge and consent. If they are using intermittent monitoring then the physicians must ask before turning the camera on.

This is not "big brother" folks - hospitals are not monitored for kicks and giggles.

There should be. The whole idea of being in a hospital is to have medical professionals watch you 24 hours a day. If you don't want to be watched 24 hours a day, you shouldn't be in a hospital. By the way, what privacy law are you talking about?

A hospital is not a hotel. I would think cameras would be a great idea to keep a quick eye on your patients should they need something. Why would you think there would be privacy laws in a hospital?

I'd imagine there are rooms with cameras for people who need to be monitored. You have to give up a certain amount of privacy when you enter a hospital in order for them to provide you their service.

Vote Democratic to get a new Democratic President in office - then Privacy may exist again eventually.

In the current world, possesing a copy of the Declaration of Independance is illegal and owned by the Federal Government. It cannot even be reprinted in a book. AND it is subject to modification by the Federal Government before printing.

That aught to tell you just how lacking ALL rights are in this country now..

in mental health hospitals..yes.in reg. hospitals..no unless maybe on the jail ward...in mental health hospitals they say it's to protect you and so they can watch you to see that you are safe. I think it is against privacy laws..when you can't get dressed without staff seeing....however, they have their own JUSTIFICATION for it no matter how wrong it is...
