Last night I watched the movie Great Balls of Fire! and it showed him not really caring at all about religious stuff, especially when he said "Well, if I'm going to hell, I'm going there playing the piano."
But, I was looking on iTunes at his music and I saw that he sung "I'll Fly Away" which is a religious song.
I have nothing against whatever he chooses to believe, i'm just wondering though.

Yeah, I know singing a religious song doesn't make you a christian. I'm not stupid.
Thats not the question anyway. I was just wondering if he's a christian or not.

There is a subtlety underneath the surface here. You see, Jerry Lee Lewis, so far as I can tell, has ALWAYS been a true believer in God.

Yes, I know about all the drinking, and cousin-marrying and all. But I also know he almost didn't record the song, "Great Balls of Fire" because he thought it was blasphemous.

I think if you look at much of his life, you see a man in torment... someone who honestly believes that he is damned, but yet is still drawn toward those activities for which he is reviled. I think he wants to be saved, but has largly given himself up as lost. If he didn't believe, he wouldn't suffer so.

He was always intrigued by it. His cousins Jimmy Swaggart became a tv evangelest who was potrayed by Alec Baldwin in the movie. His other cousin had a large night club called Gilleys that was featured in the movie Urban Cowboy. They were all kind of religious but the killer has his own standard of religion.

He comes from a very religious family. His first cousins are Jimmy Swaggert and Mickey Gilley. It is that old Southern Fundamentalist thing. Church raised and then strayed.

From what I heard he was once a Christian but turned away from God.
I guess the best one to ask that is his cousin "Jimmy Swaggart".

No, he was not a God fearing man. Singing gospel does not a Christian make.

Singing a religious song doesn't mean you're religious.

I'm an atheist and I love to sing "Amazing Grace."

He married his 13 year old first cousin, and you're worried about whether or not he's a good Christian. He's a child molester dear.
