How is 'giving' an extra £10 a week a pay rise?
Surely you lose out!
I would expect to be 'given' an extra amount.

I work as a nurse practitioner in a hospital. Our raises our based on our performance, attendance etc.. We get evaluated 2 times a year. The evaluation determines our raises. The first evaluation is done on the annual date of hire. And the second one is done 6 months later. I was hired in July. So I get my raises in July and January. The amount of the raise depends on what pay scale you are at. And your evaluation.
My husband owns his own contracting firm. So he implemented raises the same way through semi annual evaluations. But he also gives Bonuses at Christmas time. The bonuses are based on his employee's length of employment. Performance for the past 6 to 12 months. And on what his companies capital gains were for that year.
Hope this helps!
Happy Holidays,
Kali :-)
