I enjoyed reading this book: Try this from your local library or bookseller: "THE BOOK OF GREAT BOOKS:A Guide To 100 World Classics", by W.John Campbell, Ph.D. Barnes & Noble Books, 2000 . It covers most of the school "Required Reading" type books, both classics and current up to Toni Morrison, Ken Keysey, etc. It has intelligent brief synopsis of the book, and some commentary, Main Themes & Ideas, Plot Summary, and Critical Overview.
Good luck. John B. .
