Some people think that the grass is always greener on the other side.So if that person is looking over the fence tell them not to cross over it yet.Your friend needs to count their blessings. They have a good spouse, what more could you ask for?"The love of your life" is just an illusion.Come down to reality and enjoy your spouse because life is too short.

Divorcing your spouse is a very final and obviously should not be done on a whim. Sometimes fond memories of a former lover should stay in the past. If two people are absolutely sure that they were meant to be then they have an obligation to first divorce their current partner.
Another option, which is not so great, but may be a little less harsh and final is to have a discreet affair and see if indeed both of then still feel deeply that they should be together, then take the final plunge.
Sounds a real mess. hope this helps
Good Luck

If there were no children involved I would go back to the love of my life, and explain to my significant other I want to be fair so he could start over. If there are children I would stay were I am.

I would not leave my husband. The commitment that is made to the marriage is made inspite of any other feelings you may have for anyone else. This commitment has to be honored becasue it is the right thing to do.

If you find that your present partner cares for you more and sincerely, then there is no need for you to go back to your past one, life is to go on and not look back.

Well, that would depend on how my marriage was going. I wouldn't get out of a good marriage just for that.
