see if the manufacturer gave u a usb cable to plug into the laptop

If it is USB then Windows has a built in downloader. You will need to specify the location of the files to be stored. This is taking in consideration your computer is not too old the support USB plug and play.

it all depends on the camera you're using, if you have windows xp, you may only have to connect the camera to the computer and use the scanner and camera wizard
