Some people believe that religion and morality are inseparable. They see liberals supporting ideas they consider immoral (such as abortion, homosexuality, children's rights, and animal rights) so they think liberals are immoral and therefore atheist. By the way, there's no such thing as "ultra-conservative." Either you're conservative or you aren't.

These people are not Conservatives, ultra or otherwise. They are Dixiecrats whose strings are being pulled by neo-cons for their own purposes.
It's amazing that we have come to a point where so many Americans are willing to turn over their spirituality and their government to a bunch of people who, until a few years ago, were the models for comic strips and Ma & Pa Kettle movies.

"Godless and immoral" is just a very neat and tidy phrase that covers everyone the ultra-conservatives fear most. To them being godless is the ultimate put down, and questioning any political authority is immoral.

Following strict religious doctrine does not permit one to allow gay activities or abortions. Under the conservative umbrella people do not permit attacking the morality of defending this country despite how ineffectively it is done. The politicians may make mistakes but the guy doing the fighting deserves support not attacks on his character. Liberals tend to object to defending this country by combat and favor trying to negotiate positive results when history has shown it is the strong that survive while the meek may inherit the earth but when they are in the box headed for the next life they do not enjoy it.

I am a Liberal, but not Christian...I have a son aged 15 and we talk endlessly about morality and religion...I am moral because I choose to be, I don't rob, lie (white lies maybe), cheat, murder...and have never committed adultery...if I went to a Christian church I would be a hypocrite...I believe in a god because of the beautiful things in nature, I just don't think any human can know the unknown and I despise people who would be Christian for only the selfish reason of going to heaven--not because of true inner faith-- to hedge their bets...or the person who claims to be Christian to have social position within the community...Ultra Conservatives would force all people to be of the Christian faith in America if they had the power and they don't like people like me because we are a direct assault on their possession of morality.
people seem to think that Liberals are all anti-war, I'm just anti-stupid-war.

I believe it is because of the want to remove anything Christian from sight and possibly the fight to keep abortion legal at any cost. perhaps its giving criminals more rights than victims, or promoting the dumbing down of America , backing the ACLU, promoting the gay agenda, tying the hands of any organization that can provide safety or security to a community or nation. These are but just a few off of the top of my head. Should I continue?

It has nothing to do with morality or religion. Conservatives bash others to get elected, because they have no merits of their own to run on.

You don't necessarily have to be a conservative or a Christian to see clearly that acts of murder (abortion is murder people) are wrong, and that homosexuality is obviously unnatural, (hello, men have a penis and women have a vajina.) Get a grip on reality please.
