CFC's deplete the ozone and are completely unrelated to global warming. Global warming is man's imput of CO2 and CH4 into the atmosphere, causeing more of a greenhouse effect and higher temperatures.

CO2 is 30% higher than it has been for 650,000 years. Methane is 130% greater. These are two of the main pollutants humans put into the atmosphere in excess, and they are two of the primary greenhouse gases.

Look at the 'hockeystick', which shows a dramatic warming since 1950 after a fairly stable climate for 1000 years. In fact, the 10 hottest years in recorded history have all happened since 1990, with 2005 being the hottest.
(see links below)

How's that for proof of man's fault in this? There is ample proof, any real scientist will tell you that.

There has NEVER been an article doubting man's influence on global warming published in a peer-reviewed journal. A recent study of almost 1000 proved that.

Yes, the earth naturally heats and cools, but the rate and amount we are warming now is unprecedented in the recent geologic past. We are doing this, and we must stop it. This is not some political statement or rhetoric. This is science trying to educate a crass, ignorant public of the damage they are doing. The magnitude of temperature increase ALREADY is about 10x that of the 'little ice age' of the middle ages, and rate and amount are only going up.

Just to be clear, glacial and interglacial cycles are mainly controlled by astronomical fluctuations, but we have a detailed record of the last 7 cycles, and what the climate and CO2 is doing now is way different and extreme. The rate of increase is much higher than in the past AND the value itself is much higher.

global warming is caused by the increase of atmospheric gasses (nitrogen, carbon dioxide, water vapor, oxygen, argon) that are being released into the atmosphere, increasing the greenhouse effect. the greenhouse effect is like the earth's natural blanket, it holds energy from the sun close to earths surface. so yes all those things do cause global warming. I think people are adding to it, but I personally don't think global warming is all because of us. The earth has gone through hot and cold periods before.... take the ice age for example, humans were just barely coming into existence then, and what about the warm period when the dinosaurs were around? there were no humnas around then either to cause the earths surface to heat up or cool down.
hope this info helps!

Panacea,

That is true... but the bulk of that change has happened in the the period since the industrial revolution... which coincides with wide scale burning of fossil fuels and also with the rise in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels.

I know that the Earth goes through cyclical fluctuations, but none of the previous fluctuation cycles have come on so swiftly and none of the periods have ever had CO2 levels at current concentrations.

Are humans responsible for global warming? Not entirely.... but we are contributing to it and on a large scale.

All other things being equal, the average temperature of the Earth depends mainly on the position of the Continents, precession of the Earth and on Sun and Sun spot activity.

NB> CFC's were implicated in Ozone Hole NOT Global Warming (although most 'Greens' are so ill educated that they can not tell the difference)

The average temperature of the earth has risen less than 1 degree Centigrade in the last 200 years.

If that is "global warming" then it's not exactly a priority to address.

chlorofluorocarbons (chlorine, fluorine, and carbons) cause global warming.
