Yes I do, but she told me to stop because I don't have any children in her class. The words "restraining order" were used.

I am a special ed para educator in a kindergarten class...yes, most of the students give us gifts. Today, for example we got 2....one was a candel and the other a box of candy and a restaurant gift certificate. What was the coolest with the second gift was that they also included a family picture. I love getting pictures of my students!

It's not required, and givng or not giving will NOT affect the way your child is treated at school. Some people just give and some dont...its just however you feel about it.

As an educator its sometimes difficult to give a gift to the students, because you arent always 100% sure about their religious beliefs. And you dont want to offend anyone with a Christmas gift is they arent Christian, or a Hanukah gift if they arent Jewish...or any gift at all if they dont believe in that. Luckily we have a unit on holidays around the world that most of the grades follow this final week before winter break...so any "gift" or crafts we do can be related to each holiday we are studying at the time.

Sometimes, but it's not required. My mother taught Head Start for many years, and the children would often give her presents. She usually got coffee mugs, candy, or hand made gifts from the students. She has way too many mugs, but the candy never went to waste! I think she liked getting candles or treats the best because she wouldn't have to find storage for other gifts, especially if she already had a dozen of the same thing and it was a seasonal item.

Suggestions for gifts:
Candy, fancy coffee mixes, candles, soaps, etc... Anything that the teacher can use up would be good!

I always had my kids give gifts for their teachers up until Middle School. We gave ornaments every year. The teachers always said they liked that as the years went by the remembered the students by the ornaments they hung up at Christmas.

Yes, I always give a small gift as a token of my appreciation to my children's teacher. A small gifting costing about $10 or so. Nothing fancy.

We did. We just gave her a $10 gift certificate to the local bakery/coffeeshop.

She loved it.
