prob like 500 pounds. u dont need any fitness to play american football. if u can run for 9 seconds straight and catch a ball ur good to go.

In 1960 an average NFL lineman (OL or DL) was probably in that 240 lb range. RBs, DBs, LBs, etc were also on average much smaller weight wise than current players.

I was there and remember their average weight was 245 lbs.. Weight training was considered a nono back then. The belief at that time was weight training hampered agility, etc.. There were only 2 men in the nfl that could run the 100 yd. dash under 10 seconds. One was Lenny Moore of the Baltimore Colts, about 9.6. Men on the street were much smaller then, also. It was extremely unusual to see a very muscular man.

Well, it was not rare or usual you saw a player weighing even 300 pounds in the late 1980s! So, I'm guessing like 230 ponds maybe 250 pounds.

At 226 pounds. They were stronger and not as heavy.
