As far as I have seen, no manufacturer will recommend a BRAND of oil, only the weight. I have also tried several different ones but a mechanic friend of mine told me a story that caused me to try Mobil One fully synthetic and have never bought anything else since. The mechanic had to replace a head gasket on a high-end car, (not sure which one anymore). When he pulled the cylinder head off, he noticed that after thousands of miles on the car, he could still clearly see the cross-hatch honing pattern in the cylinders. He asked the owner what oil he used and the answer was Mobil One since the first oil change.

By the way, if this is a brand new car, don't change the oil until you get to at least 3000 miles even if you want a better oil. The engine needs to break in with conventional oil. I don't know the reason for this but every engine build book I've ever read says to only use synthetic after the engine has had a good break-in period

I will not say any oil is better than another. But like you said from personall experiance all I have ever used is Pennzoil and have had no problems. Now I will not say that is the best oil. Form what I have seen all brands are good as long as they meet the latest API rating which is GF-4 currently and will be a GF-5 around 2009. As long as you use a major brand of oil and use the correct viscity and go by the manufacturer for oil change intervals you should be fine.

The owners manual and under the hood sticker tells consumers what weight oil to use.

Like 5w 30. Now in that engine try to use only 5w 30. But if someone were low one quart of oil and some other weight is available use whatever motor oil is available. That is better than driving 50 miles with low oil in the engine.

I have had good experience with Valvoline, STP racing, Mobil, Castrol, Exxon, and Texaco.

I have seen a spun bearing with Amoco light duty oil, other people had spun bearings with Shell Fire and Ice.

Most poor results occur with dollar store junk oils, generic oil, no name oil. No I did not put any of this in my vehicles.

My humble personal female opinion (contrary to what one person said) is just to make sure you get frequent oil changes with any of the major brands. I have always changed my oil at about 4,000 miles, and the cars I have owned have never had a bit of engine trouble even though I have put extremely high mileage on them. I am a believer.

flow to Wal-Mart automobile middle substitute engine and transmission oils = automobile trans service get rid of the pan replace the clear out and pan gasket. Then ask the pit boss what he sees. If this is inconclusive in basic terms placed extremely violet dye for transmission interior the transmission yellow/green glow decrease than black UV easy. Black drops makes me think of your no longer changing your oil sufficient in the two of the instruments. Engine or transmission sparkling engine oil commonly (amber) sparkling transmission fluid (crimson)
