I chose 'no answer' on another site as it seemed to deter the sharks from both buses. One too many 'hey hun. U horny?' messages for my taste...

It means they don't want to broadcast it to the public. It doesn't necessarily mean they are gay, some people just dont take too kindly to making a big issue out of it. Like some recent job apps I filled in that asked for my sexual orientation....

it means that their sexual orientation is not relevant, which it really should not be....if you are on there for friends or networking, a lot of people do not feel the need to put it on there...mine says straight as that is the fact of the matter...not cuz I want to pick up or anything, my prof and blog also say that I'm married to a great guy, so I guess it one of those "Duh!" things...if you are not on there to "pick up" it shouldn't make a dif!

no answer is the default. So either they didn't fill it out by mistake, or they did it on purpose because they do want that information public.

It means they chose not to answer. Maybe they are questioning. Maybe they are gay and aren't ready to reveal it to everybody. Maybe they are in between. Maybe they think it doesn't matter.
