I think what your smelling could be what she's cooking.... if your saying that she is a very hygienic person than maybe its what she cooks.
Also, what happens is that our bodies through out the day begins to sweat. so as we sweat we start secreting our own body odor. Maybe that smell can also be do to her diet or its just her own nature body odor.
I think its very difficult to tell some they smell. I guess you two are really good friend and if you sit down with and tell her that her body odor can offend, hopefully she won't be offended. Its really hard to say.

p.s. if she hasn't notice her scent its because she is already use to her own smell.... adaptation!

That is a good question. Although, I do not know how she would react to being informed directly or indirectly. Perhaps if you have been friends for all those years you find a polite way of telling her.

"Trimethylaminuria is a metabolic condition involving hepatic dysfunction in the flavin monooxygenase (FMO3) system (impaired N-oxidation of TMA) wherein individuals excrete a fishy body odor in urine, sweat, breath, and other body excretions. "

Don't do anything. If she's clean and using all the modern day stuff to make her smell better there's really not much she can do about it.

I hate to say it but the problem is you. It's all of us, really, not you per se. We all need to get used to unusual scents and learn to accept them. We live in such a sterile world, I think anything natural is repulsive to us. It's a mind over matter issue, I think.

We all need to spend more time around campfires, soil, and animals. This doesn't answer your question about fixing the problem but you've been her friend for years--I would think you would be used to it by now. Since it's not getting easier, snag an article of clothing she's worn and take it home and sleep with it near your face, to get used to your friend's natural scent.

That's gross!!! Maybe you should get her some fruity, smelly body lotion and spray for Christmas. Sounds like she has some hygiene issues. Is she aware of her own smell???
