I have a DVD drive thing and when I put a disc in it knows what movie it is, but then this box comes up and I click the folder and then there are a bunch of files on it - which I'm guessing are the chapters or something like that - but then the computer says it doesn't know what the file type is so it can't read it.
what do i do?
Thanks!

Even though you have DVD Slot does not mean you have a DVD Player Program. You may need to have Power DVD or something similiar before you can play DVD's.

I believe your dvd player is going through some regression and it's feeling a bit depressed. j/k

Choose the biggest file that one is usually the movie. If the file asks which program to open with choose WMP or w/e player you use.

ok then try something

put your DVD once again in the drive and wait for sometime it will automatically choose to play the DVD in your default player, if not right click on the CD Drive and choose play under autoplay button, i guess it will play.

Otherwise, if you are playing with Media player, you need to download different codec to work it.

Since it is in the Psychology section, the Psychological answer would be "open the lap for the laptop!"
