I would tell her about being worried, trying not to accuse her of making everyone worry. Does that make sense? Let her know as her sister, you are there for her to talk to if needed, even if it means holding back judgement and letting her vent. Is she older, younger, same age? How did you relate to her before she did this?

I think you should be bit patient in leting her know what your family underwent. We all are selfish and thats very human nature. More often than not its the situations which drives us to take such steps, try and understand that. Talking might help. Ask her about the places she went and what she did and how she managed on her own.
Get the vibes going. Once you get to the comfort zone , you will find that even she will open up a bit more. She might sound selfish and brat, but i am sure thats the way she wants to sound and not true depiction of what she feels.

I would tell her you are glad that she is back, that all of you have been worried sick about her. That you don't understand why she did it this way, letting everyone think she was harmed. I would tell you her love her but how hurt you feel by the way she did it. If you are expecting her to break down or have a look of remorse be prepared that she might not. It isn't how she reacts but that you let her know how it affected you and your family.

Why not sit down with her and ask her if she was trying to punish you all, or has something happened to her to make her feel like she couldn't call. Was she always this way?(selfish?) Instead of trying to punish her try to figure out why.Does she have any medical problems? Some times people with schizophrenia leave and never call home.Hope you find the answer you're looking for.

That was very selfish and mean of your sister to put you and your
family through all that worry for almost a year. I can't imagine what you and your family went through not knowing if she was ok or not. you have a right to your anger but should also be happy that she is alive and that you were able to speak to her again. Good luck to you and your family and I hope everything works out.

Well if you dont let her know how you feel you'll just stay angry at her. So definitely tell her the way you feel and that what she has done was wrong. Try to say things that wont make her defensive right away though cause then she might be liable to not listen to anything you say.

Well. If she's 31 and just didn't want to speak to you for a year, I'm going to guess there were other things going on.
I'm also going to guess your family is full of drama and she was trying to get away from it.
Let her know how you feel about her disappearing for year, not how you feel about the way you perceive she treats you and your family...and then leave her alone about it.

I have a female sibling. We are estranged. I like it that way. Perhaps you should consider it as a viable option.
Good luck. And remember this, disowning a family member is not an easy thing to do so don't jump into it without thinking it through.

Yea of course you should let her know. she needs to know how this effected the family because no matter what she is part of it. just sit her down and tell her calmly, that way she wont feel too threatened i am sure that it has been hard on her too. Good luck I hope all goes well.

You can let her know how you feel, maybe she just doesn't get it. Some people need time to grow up and learn how their actions effect others, she may not care right now, but she will most likely get through this phase at some point.
Just be as patient as you can, and always remember, you can only help people who want to be helped.
