I was reading the Declaration of Independence the other day and it said With Liberty and Justice for All.
Does that mean just for the people who agree with a certain political party's platform (and their pandering to a religious majority or pandering to a racial minority) or does that mean every citizen of the United States? I'm hoping that you guys are waking up out there. Our representatives in government are using your religion against you. Wake Up. If a candidate is pro-choice and has everything else you could ever want in a representative, you vote against him or don't vote at all in that election because he's pro-choice, is that even relevant in light of the fact that you are electing a government official to represent your civil interests and not someone who is ruling you? People seem to be under the impression that government is God. Government isn't God. We are the government. wake up.

It means just what it says, for ALL human men and women.

Conservatives will try to redefine that.

Oh, lord, here we go. You can't take one phrase out of an entire document and rant based only on that phrase. You have to look at the phrase in the context of the whole document.

The declaration was designed as a response to British oppression, and it was written over two hundred years ago, way before the current PC movement emerged.

That said, you can't apply all the PC rhetoric of today to a declaration written back then.

We are the government. However, there are people who want more of god in said government. And they will elect people who are closer aligned to their god.

I've figured that conservatives will continue to be elected, even though their constituency will not be supported by said conservative, solely because there is a belief that there is a higher reward past this life, and comforts in this life aren't important.

It's kind of dangerous for people who don't think that way.

Even though Y! Answers seems otherwise, the elections were pretty definitive - people are sick of this tripe. And god certainly never tells his own children to go blow up his other children. Remember deuteronomy: "Go now in peace."

And justice for all...a movie starring Al Pacino as a lawyer and John Forsythe as a judge, one of the best endings for a movie I have ever seen. Good movie but in my opinion, a fantasy. It's nothing more than a nice sounding slogan. If you're poor, you're screwed. Just the facts.

It means for "all". and contrary to a lot of people on yahoo will tell you, that is why there is a need for a group like the ACLU. We do have one political party that uses "wedge issues" like abortion to keep people from thinking about all the other issues that face this country. Unfortunately, I do know people that will only vote Republican because of this issue alone.

My representatives are not using "my" religion against me. I'm an atheist Republican, I have no religion.

Moonbat.

Liberty and Justice for all... means you don't have any rights and you must support your President even though he blew up the World Trade Center.

I think it's just a goal, something to work toward and something to keep in mind. But I still think we WILL get there one day. And we need people like YOU to point out lack of freedom and injustice when and where you see it.

It means liberty and justice for ALL, even babies who have not been born yet.

Oh yeah, and extra liberties for black people, like African-American Scholarships and BET and Affirmative Action

Oh, and extra liberties for illegal immigrants, like free health care and free education.

I vote pro-life to give these babies LIBERTY & JUSTICE. I have always said I would vote for a communist, nazi, KKK member, rapper if he was pro-life, because isn't that the most important issue today.

Isn't killing millions of babies a year more important than our soldiers in Iraq? Than homosexual marriage? Than illegal immigration???
