I lived in St Louis forever. I always thought that overall it was a good place to live and raise a family--cost of living is pretty good, the zoo and museums are free, there are some nice outdoor areas.
But the biggest issue and the thing that made me finally glad to leave was the race problem in St Louis. I've never been anywhere where it was that bad--and I'm counting one time in Detroit where I was physically threatened for attending a baseball game with a black man. It's the only place outside of TV and 70's movies where I've actually heard the word "honkey" used (yelled out a window at me for walking through the "wrong" neighborhood).
Anyone who says they don't know what I'm talking about lives in West County and doesn't have a person of a different race within ten miles of them. Which is also part of what I'm talking about.

I live in Missouri, O'Fallon to be correct. It is a very nice place, farther south than I live, people are very country and well mannered. The weather is something else though. Just in the past two weeks, we have had a Foot of Snow then temps in the 60's.

I lived in Branson for 6 months and loved it.Lots to do, plenty of jobs and a low crime rate. There are lots of tourists but most are older people and families and newly weds.I thought it was a great place to raise a family. The only reason I moved back to Louisiana is because my kids were bad homesick.

There are good and bad in every state, but when I visited Missouri, I found it to be quite nice. Much more laid back than Southern California! lol
