snow ice cream -- can be as simple as clean snow plus half and half or milk and chocolate syrup. Mine love this.

Get a hidden picture or simple brain game book as a present and work on it together.

Do you have a digicam. Is he trusworthy. I let my 7 year old learn to tak pic recently - he loves it.

Let him have a friend over for a night or day, then they can entertain each other.

Have him help pack up ornaments.

Take him to the library or a restuarnt with play area.

What about making gingerbread houses? Or paper snow flakes. There are many crafts you could do that cost little to nothing and add to the festivities of Christmas. One more thing you can download free coloring holiday sheets. Just google free coloring sheets.

take him to a huuuge hill. get him to run up it and slide down it. you can stay at the bottom as long as you can still see him. if you pick a big enough hill, he'll get tired and fall asleep on the way home. or make a gingerbread house. you can get kits at grocery stores for around 7 bucks. baking of any kind works. make christmas ornaments with him and get him to decorate them and he can hand them out to relatives at christmas time. here's a recipe for the ornaments:) hope i helped merry christmas

Sorry to say, even in your condition, I recommend taking him or her to your local hills for some sledding or sliding. You'll enjoy watching and may even try the smaller hills yourself. Of course you'll be extra careful since you'll be carrying a passenger!
