Underneath the meters is a bracket that is held in place by 2 nuts. Remove the nuts, then remove the meters and bracket. Underneath the meters is a plastic cover - remove it (1 screw in the center towards the rear). The bulb sockets are pushed in. Just pull them out.

check under clocks for rubber bungs with wires going in these will be bulb holders remove them & fit new bulb,
dont know about the er5 but had & still have loads of different bikes most are like that, also i have never had to strip fairing or clocks to fit a bulb strugle yes but done it with out,

you will have to remove the clocks if your lucky there will be a twist type fitting if not you will have to remove the back of the clocks which should take about 5 minutes to access the bulb
will take about 30 to 45 minutes make sure you have a new bulb to hand

you'd have to take the dashboard nacelle off which was effin hard on my honda cg125 as it holds the ignition.
