I've heard Elvis sing alot of Hawaiian type songs. You can watch some of his movies, like "Paradise Hawaiian Style"or "Blue Hawaii".

I'm 51 and a very fond memory from my childhood involves hawaiian music. When I would spend the night at my grandmother's house, I would ask her to put on a Don Ho album where he sang Tiny Bubbles.

Yes, some "slack-key" guitar songs and "Kimoniwonalaya" (spelling uncertain) performed by Bette Midler. I don't know if "Tiny Bubbles" by Don Ho counts or not.
