Revelation 13:16-18 (New International Version)
16 He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17 so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
18 This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666.

Please read Revelation Chapter 13, Verses 1 to 18 for the account of the two beasts. You will enjoy it.
Verse 18 should answer your question
18 * Wisdom is needed here; one who understands can
calculate the NUMBER OF THE BEAST, for it is a number that
stands for a person. His number is six hundred and sixty-six.
Note: CAPITALIZATION is mine.
It will interest you that there are so many lyrics that were taken from the verses of Revelation and used by many songwriters.
Handel used so many of the verses in his opera, "The Messiah."
Handel's peers did not use many of the verses as he did. Listen to "The Messiah" this Christmas. You will be reading Revelation (in your mind) while listening to the music composed by Handel himself.
If you do not have a copy of the CD, you can go to the public Library nearest you.

For those of us who've not heard the song, what is the introduction?
Try searching http://bible.com/ for the words in the introduction.
