i spray painted some pine cones and they got wet and they closed up. can you put them in the oven to open them up or what else can you do to open them back up?

Don't put them in the oven!!!!! they will catch on fire. Put them outside in the sun & air, if that don't work get new ones. YOu could burn your house down putting them in the oven. They have pine sap in them that is very flammable.

I would be concerned about heated paint giving off toxic fumes even if it is supposed to be a none toxic paint under normal conditions. If you feel that your paint would be safe, you could try pre warming your oven to the lowest heat, put the cones in and cut off the oven, leaving the oven door open several inches. Next year use cones you save from this year so you can have a better chance that they won't close up again.

If you stick something painted in the oven it will melt the paint and it will smell the entire place up, especially spray paint. I would try a hair dryer, or a heat lamp. Try not to melt the paint.

Doesnt sound very safe. Could you set them near a heater or a stove and let them slowly dry?
