Go to the doctor if it is bad, and check with the owners to see if has had a Rabies shot. Then avoid the animal if you can from then on.

I would never attack an animal except for that reason, for self defense. But the only time I wont fight back is if it's a small animal like a hamster.

This question is completely unclear. Many different animals can attack you. What circumstance would make the animal attack you? What kind of animal? Animals attack in different ways. Where are you located? Who is with you? And so on.

iF IT DOESN'T HAVE AN OWNER I WOULD GO TO THE DOCTOR CUZ IT COULD HAVE RABIES but if it does i would probaly still go to the doc cuz you might need medicine or need it to be banged up!!
