I definitely would recommend crocheting, its not too hard and its an easy way to make great and thoughtful gifts for people. Or something else that seems to be a dying art these days is coin collecting. I have inherited my dad's and you can learn a lot about our nation's history through it and its also cool to see the progression of our coins. Seeing other country's coins is always fascinating as well.

I was also gonna suggest knitting or crochet. It's quite fashionable apparently.
(may have misspelled crochet, what I mean though is that thing that people do with the hook, ya know!)
