omg im so tired of hearing "you should work and dont think of yourself" first off I AM NOT ALLOWED TO WORK - THATS MY PARENTS CALL they would rather me focus on school and they buy me expensive gifts yes - but its not like i demand it . im an only child so ive grown accustomed to this and i always ask my parents for a budget but they refuse to give meone. they usually end up giving me everything i want and some other things as well. i try to buy them gifts in erturn but they just yell at me when i spend too much of my allowance on them because its their money and if i spend it all on them i just have to ask for more money for other things - but i do it anyway because they deserve something from me even though they would never demand it or expect it. i am grateful for what i have and dont write me off as anything other than that because you dont know me or my parents prefernce as how to raise me.

I don't need to give my parents a list because I am appreciative for whatever is given to me. Besides - my parents know me well and know what I like (not that it matters) But at this stage of the game - I am 37 now and I'd much rather give my parents something they will enjoy rather than get something from them (Last year I gave them Broadway Theatre Tickets, Dinner at a chic Manhattan Location and a nice suite at the Marriott Marquis) This year I am offering them a special get-away at the location of their choice anywhere in the United States.

You are old enough to work - so instead of thinking about yourself, think about the people who are responsible for giving you life and all the wonderful things you have because you gave them a list.

We have 4 children (17, 19, 21 and 22) and, yes, we still get their lists. Mostly we just give those ideas to clueless relatives, though, and just go ahead and get them things we think they'll like, Of course, money is NOT out of the question, but we try to be creative with this option. For instance, last year our eldest (who has a band) "won" a $500 spending spree at Guitar Center by playing a game with us on Christmas morning. So, yeah - keep the lists coming! And Merry Christmas!!!!!

I'm thirty & still give my parents a list & expect one from them. Just make sure you take their finances into account & don't ask for things that will strain their budget. That is actually a question for your parents. Merry Christmas.

I think it better you give them a gift instead of a list. To each their own. One day you will realize that is more important to give instead of get. Merry Christmas!

How else would they know what to get you?

I'm 38, and I still give my parents a list...They also give me theirs, and have been doing so since I was able to read.

I would think it was weird if you DIDN'T give them a list.
