The Sioux originally lived in the Dakotas, and were forced to relocate to Minnesota. Their nation is known as the Great Sioux Nation. They are most famous for their uprising.

From wikipedia:

The Sioux Uprising, also known as the Dakota Conflict or the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, was an armed conflict between the United States and several eastern bands of the Dakota people (often referred to as the Santee Sioux) that began on August 17, 1862, along the Minnesota River in southwest Minnesota. Skirmishes in the following weeks claimed hundreds of lives. The number of Native American dead is unknown, while estimates of settlers who died range between 300 and 800—one of the largest tolls on American civilians to ever occur. The conflict also resulted in the largest mass execution in U.S. history, when 38 Dakota men, convicted of murder and rape, were hanged in Mankato, Minnesota. This was the first major armed engagement between the U.S. and Dakota, though it would not be the last.

You could make some sort of weapon replica or a tee pee replica.

The Sioux used Buffalo for many things, food, warmth, and its skin was like money to them, they could trade them for weapons, horses, and showed status in the tribe. A Sioux man with many skins was able to have more than one wife! (the women greatly outnumbered the men)

If you have access to get some fake fur or even get creative with a grocery sack you could make a story board showing the many uses of buffalo and their skins.

Here is a cool site that might help. It includes a neat pic of a Sioux warrior that you might be able to use if you print it out.

Good luck!

You could use some chopsticks or just sticks (and the technique of the first answer) to make a cool tee-pee. Then decorate it with symbols or designs. Magic markers or Sharpies would work
