First, turn each fraction to an improper fraction.
denominator X whole # + numerator.
7*4+3=28+3=31 so 31/7
5*3+1=15+1=16 so 16/5
Now, you need 2 find the LCD(lowest common denominator), which is 35; 7*5.
So, multiply the fraction by 5(top and bottom)
31*5=155
7*5=35
155/35
Now, multiply he 2nd fraction by 7(top and bottom)
16*7=112
5*7=35
112/35
155/35+112/35=
267/35 also 7 22/35

First find the common denominator between 7 and 5 which is 35.
(converting 3/7) 7 * x = 35; x=5; 5 *3 = 15/35
(converting 1/5) 5 * x = 35; x=7; 7 * 1 =7/35
15+7=22/35
4+3=7
So, the answer is 7 22/35

the answer is 7 22/35... all you have to do is find a common denominator for 3/7 and 1/5... that would be 35. then you cross multiply to find the numerators.. Add 4 and 3 = 7. and 15/35 = 7/35 = 22/35. Fractions are actually pretty simple if you just practice often.

4 3/7 = 31/7
3 1/5 = 16/5
common denominator of these two fraction is 35
(31/7) * 5 = 155/35
(16/5) * 7 = 112/35
155/35 + 112/35 = 267/35 also = 7 22/35
