I first would try drawing a triangle and label it ABC. Put a midpoint on AC and label it E and put another midpt on AB and label it D.

DE is called the midsegment of a triangle. DE is half the length of BC.

so, 2(4x+3)=5x+8
distribute 2 to the ()

8x+6=5x+8
subtract 5x from both sides

3x+6=8
subtract 6 from both sides

3x=2
divide

x=2/3

D & E are mid point of AC & AB means that ED are half of BC.
So,

BC/2 = DE

5x + 8 = 2*(4X +3)

5x + 8 = 8X + 6

3X = 2

X = 2/3

DE is half of BC

4x+3=1/2(5x+8)
8x+6=5x+8
3x=2
x= 2/3

How about 1. The only and lonely 1. x=1.

Since DE is parallel to BC, Since 2AD = AB, AD / DE = 2AD / BC
AD * BC = 2AD * DE
BC = AD * DE
5x + 8 = AD *(4X + 3)
AD = (5x + 8) / (4x + 3)
