They will have her history on their register. They are very helpful but they do the research for you as previous owner information is confidential. They can tell you when she was registered, what area and then the next area the owner lived in etc.

Contact Farmkey with the Freezemark number as until recently Farmkey was the main company in the UK doing freezebranding. They will have a name of the person who originally had your horse freeze branded & possibly some of the people who owned her afterwards. Also, try some of the horsey magazines like Horse, Your Horse & Horse & Rider as they all have free ads sections where you can pop a small photo in & ask other readers if they recognise your mare. If you know her breeding that would help as you could then contact the relevant breed society. Do you know where she came from in Pontefract? If she went through a sale ring then the auctioneers would have a name of the person who put her into the auction. Good luck!

I am a bit confused with your figures. You say your horse came from Pontefract in Sept '05 (last year), but yet you say she died 5 years ago (which is '01). You might try placing the freezemark number in the search engine followed by history and see if you come up with anything.

If you know who the freezemark was registered with they may be able to tell you more information. If you know who her sire and dam were you could try googling them to see if there is any information on them.

If she was a Thoroughbred you will be able to trace her pedigree via Weatherbys.

If you contact the freezemark company, they will pass your details on to the last registered owner, for a small fee. They will not give you any details unless the previous owner consents to be contacted, but it is worth passing your details on...
