A scrotum piercing, like many other peircings, symbolizes many things.
To some people, it allows them to get back in touch with their own bodies. The very act of piercing their own body is a form of self-autonomy -- they choose to do it.
Consequently, it has psychological importance for some people. If they grew up in a sexually-repressive society or family, and if they were taught that their body (especially sex organs) were 'bad', then to pierce their genitals is a way to say 'it's my genitals, and I'll pierce it if I want to.' So for these people, it's a way to 'take back their power' over their own bodies.
Once someone gets a piercing, they discover that it feels pleasurable. They develop sexual expereinces and practices which involve the piercing, and it becomes a part of their sexual identity.
Sometimes people even develop a sexual fetish about their own pirecing, and about others' piercings. Consequently, the appearance or feel of the piercing can be sexually arousing.
Other do it purely for cosmetic purposes. But it's a bit drastic to stab your penis with a hollow spike and then to insert a 6 gauge stainless steel ring, just for 'cosmetic purposes' if you ask me.
Of course, if women will let surgeons slash open their breasts to insert plastic bags filled with silicone, just to please their boyfriends, then I can believe a man will pirece his crotum 'just for the look.'
In the early 1980s gay men were trend-setters by getting body piercing before anyone in America ever knew what a Prince Albert was. Later, every straight boy in America got his tit pierced, and later his tongue and eyebrow.
I think this was the most market savvy trick the tattoo shops ever played on people -- to expand their services from only macho tattoos to exotic piercing -- what a goldmine!

Well why does anyone get pierced? Some like to be different, some want to find pleasures, and some want the Jacobs Ladder or the Prince Albert. However the Scrotum isn't painful like the other 2. its flexible and painless and sometimes arousing. There are many reasons and each person will have a different response to your Question. Myself, I have a total of 24 Piercings and a Scrotum Ladder is one of them ( only 3 in a row ). I am a Body Modification Artist for over 9 yrs. now. And how iI ended up with mine is that a client wanted 10 in a row, and I needed to focus and keep them straight inline with one another. so i pierced myself to practice. Not many people will just be your trial and era type of person. And in my book if i cant or wont do it to myself then why would i do it to others. but like i said each person has their own story and reasons for doing such.

Why does anyone get any part of their body pierced? The fact it is a scrotum doesn;t make it any different than a nipple or a naval. It is just another part fo a person that can be therefore it is. Much like climbing a mountain; they do it because it is there.
Sure piercing a scrotum, nipple or other so-called sexual part can be erotic or a turn on to the person or to whomever they might be with but aside from some mild eroticism, it is done for appearance, self-satisfaction and all the same reasons you have your ears pierced.
And it matters not one's sexual orientation; piercing is done for other reasons than to display one's sexuality.

RE:
Why would a man get his scrotum pierced? (Hafada skin piercings)?
does he have to be gay or have bi-sexual tendencies? Does he just like how they make him feel?

WOW.
I have absolutely NO desire to do that.
I usually think of exotic piercings as body mutiliation. Just not into that.
Plus, if the jewelry is in a difficult place (such as the scrotum) I'd always be worrying about it snagging on my jeans. Drop your drawers and it snags.... OUUUUUCH!!

Sorry to gross everyone out, but in the name of scientific research I am comparing my elbow to a scrotum right now, and although there are some similarities, I´m not totally convinced. Despite my user name, my elbow´s not hairy, for a start.
