1) according to you, what are the characteristics of a victim of bullying? (not characteristics of the bully, characteristics of the victim). As in, what are different characteristics or weird things about a victim that a bully would focus on?
2) we've all encountered bullies, some are just bullied more than others. what are the emotional/personal effects a bully has had on you?

Bullies just go after the weak. Not a lot of friends, smaller or less bold than the bully, a bully will rarely go after a confidant person regardless of size.
Having been raised in martial arts/self defense training I have yet to encounter a bully that I was afraid of. I am a smallish girl but I have always stood up to bullies, once when I was 22 my room mates and I threw a party and this pretty big guy was slapping this smaller guy on the face repeatedly, I got right up in his face and told him to leave so he hit me, knocking me down, when he grabbed me I broke his pinky finger, and dislocated his knee, someone offered to drive him to the hospital and I told him if he went and didn't come back I wouldn't call the police, that was the end of it, that is my most intense bully story.

i think that the victim appears weak to the bully. the bully does not want a confrontation they just want the satisfaction of looking better than the person they are picking on. they usually have something that defines them or makes them stick out. a bully will pick anything that is different. if it was something everyone had then everyone would be behind the victim and bully the bully.
i think that a bully makes a person self conscious about things that are trivial and it usually caused the victim to have issues with this aspect of themselves, which causes low self esteem, which causes them to appear weak, which causes them to be bullied more.

1. nice, shy, reserved, lacks confidence, loner, dresses differently, poor, glasses, braces, out of fashion, slower at speech, slower at answering questions in class, deformity, shorter/taller than the rest, skinniest/heaviest than the rest, flat chested, not starting period yet, goes to a "different" type church, bad teeth, extra good at grades (which makes the other kids envious because they don't look as smart), clueless of subtle teasings, mother makes the lunch (rather than go through the lunchline), different accent, from different culture, hair not pretty, not born there, parent's occupation is not "cool", parent's car is not late model, not having a specific pet, neighborhood poor.
2. Once I belted the "head bully" I had no further problems. Cased solved.
Having to deal with them made me more deeply sensitive to other people's emotions (empathy), makes me reach out to people who are hurting; having more of a servant's heart; standing up for those who are less able or capable of doing so.
I guess that's why I'm to marry a guy who lives in a wheelchair.
Merry Christmas!

1) withdrawl of social life, introverted, insecurity, increased need for praise and accompishment, tend to over accomplish, drawn to drugs (alcohol etc). weaker, as in cultural or otherwise in a disadvantage. Keep finding new bullies.
To part 2 of question1..that would really depend on what type of Bully, there are just bullies and then you have narcissistic disorders, pathological manipulators who can have much deeper impact (like it happened to me)
2) it wanted me to research the entire behavor, so I would understand and to better prepare and protect myself. Was extreemly mistrusting and overly careful .
Made me want aquire self confidence by overachieveing
