I would suggest talk therapy. Look for psychologist in the phone book. I am sorry you felt the need to do this. I am sure you are living with a tremendous amount of guilt and shame. It would be of great help to you if you have a professional to talk to. Please don't take this to a friend or family member you have enough to deal with and people you know tend to be judgmental whereas a professional
will not be.Most of all please forgive yourself.

Post-Abortion Syndrome (PAS) is a term that has been used to describe the emotional and psychological consequences of abortion. Whenever we go through a traumatic experience, without the opportunity to process the experience emotionally, we can expect a delayed negative reaction. We live in a society that ignores the painful consequences of abortion. Men and women who have experienced it are urged into denial, so they do not talk about and process the normal feelings of anxiety, fear, shame, guilt and grief which often follow the abortion. When such emotions are denied and buried, they will often resurface having been magnified by time.
My mother had an abortion over 15 years ago and still gets depressed about it. If you've had an abortion and are experiencing symptoms of PAS, you should probably go back to the clinic where you had it done. They usually provide free counseling after your procedure.

Post-Abortion Syndrome (PAS) a.k.a. Post-Abortion Stress Syndrome (P.A.S.S.) is a real thing that has been experienced by millions of women AND men. I know, I have suffered from it for 17 years, since I had my unborn baby killed in 1989.
Ironically, the pro-abortion feminists of the last 30 years have constantly claimed to be all about empowering women and validating their voices in the world. Yet, when thousands of women cry out about the damaging psychological, emotional, and physical repurcussions they have suffered after an abortion, feminists dismiss their testimonials as hogwash. How is that empowering to women? How does dismissing the real and painful experiences of thousands upon thousands of women validate their womanhood? Are feminists really interested in women's health, or are they really only interested in furthering their "revenge on men" agenda at any cost, even if that cost is the very lives of unborn babies and women? The feminist ideals have sent the not-so-subtle message that only losers choose motherhood over education/travel/career. What kind of effect do you think that has on whether a mother chooses to kill her unborn baby rather than deal with a slightly inconvenient detour in her "life plan for success"? Talk about social pressure. This has more effect than any morality shame could ever have.

Don't let some of those answers get you down, you've got enough on your plate. Abortion is bound to have repercussions and you're not the first one to suffer from them. Life (yes, the pro-life organisation) offer counselling for women WHATEVER THEIR CHOICE. I know: I trained with them. You have the right to not be judged and to get the help you need. Just go there and get it, look after yourself.

It is depression that occurs not only from having to have an abortion, but by the hormone changes that occur in a woman's body. (Similar to giving birth, the baby blues, post partum.)
If it continues you should see a doctor.

Sure there is such a thing...like post traumatic loss. Everyone who has an abortion doesn't do so lightly and it is a very deep loss for them and was an agonizing decision so sure there's trauma.
