The accuracy of an ultrasound is about 98% at 18.5 weeks so you can feel pretty comfortable you are having a girl. Save receipts if you really have doubts!

Yes they can get it wrong and it happens and everyone makes mistakes, so dont get mad okay. Most likley it will come out what they say but just to be on the safe side i would say go out a buy a theme nursery set...like jungle, underwater, ect. That way wether its a boy or a girl, the room isnt based on theyre sex but on a special theme. If you have cable then channel 38 or TLC has shows about life and adult situations all the time. Like a show called Bringing A Baby Home, A baby story, and other shows like that...where you might be able to learn alot. Good luck and happy holidays!!

If you are worried about buying clothes, you have some options. First of all, girls can wear blue too so just try to buy clothes that are white, yellow, green, red, and blue or just unisex (steer clear of pink for now if you are not sure :). Don't go buy everything brand new. I managed to go to thrift stores and goodwill once a week and bought lots of really cute brand name clothes (which looked brand new too) for around $1.00 to $2.00 each. I also went to a lot of garage sales and bought stuff at those, but depending where you live right now might not be a good time for those. That is what I did the entire time I was pregnant - so I hope that helps!

Usually those test are 90% accurate. You should have recieved a picture printout from the ultrasound that shows the reproductive organs of the baby, most photos are pretty clear. But thats depending on how the baby is turned and what kind of equipment they're working with (also ask to get the doctors opinion along with the tech's). Also you might consider getting a 4D ultrasound. They are available around 32 weeks and make a wonderful keepsake. Most well funded OBGYN groups offer them, but unfortunatly most insurance compainies dont cover the cost. You should ask your doctor for more info.

Wait to buy things!! At 18 weeks the doctor thought ours was a girl too I am now 31 weeks and having a boy. I bought some cute girl stuff and now I am stuck with it. I dont know if you will get another ultrasound but if you do I would wait until then.
Good luck and Congrats!

It could deffinatly be wrong, especially prior to 25 weeks.
I had my first ultrasound with my son at 18 weeks and they said "girl". Had 3 more ultrasounds between then and 33 weeks and they were all "girl" except the last scan...the dr said "oh wow, thats a boy. Sorry!"
I had already had a baby shower and received all pink stuff that I had to return also...I was so mad!
Alot of times the boy's testicles dont descend until 25-28 weeks so early scans can be wrong and you'll be told girl.

Of course they could be wrong!
However, if you had a good technician, s/he would have given you a percentage of surety, as in 90% sure it's a girl or what have you. For my little boy, there was NO question as to what parts were where, and he was very cooperative (except for his little evil plotting hands--just like his father). By 18 weeks, and if they did the normal checks for locations of hands, feet and so, it's easier to mistake a girl for a boy than the other way around. I would say it's a fairly safe bet to say congrats on your little girl.

On my first pregnancy I trusted the ultrasound because there was no doubt that he was going to be a little boy. There was no hiding it. But with my second I had a girl and I was upset because I didn't see anything. You could try what I did if the nurses are nice in your dr.s office. On my last dr.s appointment I asked if I could just take a quick little peek again and sure enough I seen her little girl stuff shining clear as day.

my doc. said 90% it was a girl at 20 week ultrasound...he says his boy prediction were 100% accurate. But sometimes his little girl prediction turned out to be late blooming little boys. Sometimes little boys testes don't drop/show until later in the pg. He did confirm at wk 28 ultrasound that she was still in fact a she.

Well it is a 50/50 chance but with technology today things are pretty accurate, if they felt confident enough to tell you it is a girl then I am sure it is. Maybe hang on to your receipts just in case!
Congratulations & Good Luck!
