Why do people care if celebrities break up or divorce? Why does it matter? How will it help the common good? What has this country came down to? Why do people care more about celebrities, who they don't know, more than the wider world? Like World Hunger? Things like that matter. Not celebs breaking up and divorcing! Do you feel the same way?

Americans love to live vicariously through the lives of famous people they know they will never be like. It's kind of like going to the movies. It's a form of escapism. Why Americans don't care about World Hunger is very simple. Blissful ignorance, and guilt.

Poor quality education. Emphasizing the trivial at the cost of things that matter. Lack of discrimination regarding what is important. People are not taught to reason and question what they see and hear.

We sit at home in search of answers its hope I guess but in that desperation we are bombarded with lies and propaganda. Media can be a source of creating conversation as long as its taken with a grain of salt.I think when it comes to celebrities we like to live vicariously through them as our lives might be quite boring

Because it's cheap, low intelligence entertainment. Even the dumbest people can talk about celebrities and entertainment, but you need intelligence to speak about important issues. In the USA it's cool to be dumb.

It is the distraction factor. The media is supressed by the government by what they can report now. They have to talk about superficial things, so we will not worry about the war or the environment.

Maybe we are getting fatter and more stupid and don't care about world issues and are self absorbed in celebrities many wish to be or have their fortune.
