Diarrhea Questions?
I have had Diarrhea for about 2 years..sounds a little weird. But it usually happens more when I wake up early, because when I sleep in it's not so bad. Some days seem worse than others and I usually am running to the bathroom.usually right after I eat and again right after coffee (I usually drink water, so I don't get dehydrated..and I know coffee is a diaretic). I eat very healthy, Lately it seems to be bothering me more..Should I go to the doctors? If so, what would they do..and what are some common ways to treat something like this. (Is is possibly a mild case of IBS?)..Sorry for the graphic nature of this..but lately my butt is raw as well..because i go to the bathroom so often. I usually have cramps as well. .any suggestions WANTED.
Thanks & HAPPY HOLIDAYS

They're starting to recommend that people with IBS, or IBS-like symptoms be tested for celiac disease, which is an intolerance to gluten (wheat, rye, barley and oats). A lot of people with celiac were misdiagnosed as having IBS for years. (18 years for me). It takes an average of 11 years for a person with celiac to be diagnosed.
Here's a webpage by the National Institutes of Health on celiac -
http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/celiac/
And another from the Mayo Clinic -
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/celiac-disease/DS00319
If that starts sounding familiar here are a couple of message boards for people with celiac and other gluten intolerances.

You can also be intolerant to other common foods and get the symptoms you are describing. Soy, corn, eggs, yeast, dairy, etc. You may want to think about keeping a food/symptoms journal and see if you can identify the culprit(s).
I would suggest you definitely go to a doctor.
I hope you feel better soon.

sounds like IBS to me, and not a mild case either. Might help to eat more yogurt and cheese as long as you are not lactose intolerant as well. Talk to your doctor about getting some Bentyl to calm your bowel for the present and then followup with a gastroenterologist for the testing required to insure the diagnosis.

See a gastroenterologist. You sound like you might have IBS, irritable bowel syndrome. IBS can be triggered by certain foods, ie dairy, caffeine and even stress. Eat lots of whole grains and fresh vegetables. Good luck.

You defiantly want to go see a gastroenterologist. My sister was just diagnosed with Colitis, which causes the same symptoms you are presenting with. The doctor has her on Imodium twice a day. You should try something like Imodium and see if it help. Good Luck!

Could you be allergic to dairy? It's a common symptom. Try cutting out all dairy products and see if anything changes.
