I am a cancer and I dated a virgo once. Cancer's are very emotional and require a lot of attention. I didn't get the attention and love I needed from him, but who knows? It could work...
I am with a Libra now, and everything is perfect harmony.

yea cancer and virgo are a good match, i think they get along very well. My best friends are cancer and virgo and they bond together alot.

Yes, generally Water and Earth are good matches, as are Air and Fire. It's kind of cool to think about it on literal terms, too. For example, water helps the earth grow. When air is added to fire, it makes the flame bigger. :) Oh, and I said generally because a lot of it is determined on personality moreso than signs.
Water signs: Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio
Earth signs: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo
Air: Aquarius, Gemini, Libra
Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Usually, but you have to be carefull because Virgos can sometimes be as emotional as cancers and that could be a mess.
